Chapter 425 Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve we headed out to the kids to spend Christmas with Chris, Carissa, Chris' parents, sister and brother-in-law.  The order of the day was to get Reagan to take a nap, or at the very least, a bit of rest. Grampa took one for the team and went up to try to settle her in. I don't think much resting was accomplished by Reagan, but I think Grampa got in a great nap.

We woke up to a white Christmas in the morning and hot-footed it back from the hotel to see the Christmas morning smiles. The kids had their obligatory matching-jammies-in-front-of-the-Christmas-tree photo then

out to enjoy the snow while we still had it. Around here, we never know how long it will last and we have to enjoy it while we can. The Mainers all bundled up and were all delighted to play in the snow. This Washingtonian went out without hat or gloves. They dry faster.

Carissa demonstrates her finest luge-style sledding form while Reagan looks on wondering what's wrong with her mother.

Becky, Chris' mom, helps William scoop snow with Reagan's tractor shovel. Happy, happy Grammy!

While we are all slogging around in the snow, Kyanne and Ryan are in Arizona soaking up sunshine at Ryan's parents in Tucson. This is literally their backyard since their place backs up to Saguaro National Park.

The kids stopped to check out Zion National Park on the way home.

The Walker's build the obligatory snowman in their yard. It's a job keeping Bear from eating the snowman's nose. Bear loves himself a carrot whether he's pulled it fresh from my garden or fresh from a snowman's face.

After everyone came in and got changed out of their snow clothes, we are ready for presents. Like cats do, Mozzy grabs the finest seat in the house for viewing the knock-down, drag-out battle with innocent paper.

Reagan loves to roll around in said innocent paper. I know Chris fought the urge to clean up with every fiber of his being but he hung in there and left it out and everyone had tons of fun playing.

Here's Reagan playing in the wrapping paper last Christmas.

Mozzy came down to lay among the rubble of paper after the gifts were opened and the activity slowed down a bit.

Grampy Walker gets buried under paper by Grammy Walker and the grand kids. All of the are loving it!

Grampy Walker and Bear lay on the floor in similar positions while Bear sleeps and Grampy plays with William.

Carissa and Jenny orchestrated a photo session with William and Reagan for Grammy and Grampy. These photos are wonderful and were a total hit with the G's!

When we got home, Nitro was ready for his walk since he'd missed a couple while we were gone. He didn't realize that because the world looks funny, it feels funny too. It took him a while to walk normally but pretty soon he was out and about inventorying his turf. Here he's looking into the gardens and wondering where his leafy green hiding places went.

Then it appears his feet got cold and he wanted to go in. NOW. He also knows that I feed him each time we come in to encourage his return should he get out on his own. This gave him added incentive to get inside.

Tail up with dinner and warm feet on his mind he continues his bee-line to the house where he got his warm food.
