After returning from Oklahoma, we went to the cabin the next day to watch the Kite Festival. We met our friends Bill and Kim there and Erik and Darla also came for several days. Below is Bill and Kim with Bob on the boardwalk walking to the kite festival.
These are some of the larger kites. You can see the herd of cat ground kites. The ground kites are huge, probably 20 feet long!

In the evenings after watching kites all day, we would go to the local elementary school gym and watch indoor kite flying. This is absoutely amazing. The kites are flown indoors with all air-conditioning turned off to eliminate air currents that might affect the kites. This made for pretty hot, miserable spectating, but was well worth it.
Imagine flying a kite in still air on a short string--and keeping said kite in the air, let alone all the aerobatics they manage to do. We just missed watching Connor Doran do his demo. Connor Doran was on "America's Got Talent" and and placed second in the semi-finals. Connor Doran Semi-finals.
