Chapter 71: Side 2 1/2 of 4!

Last Wednesday we loaded the granddog, building materials, and other miscellaneous oddities, and headed back to the cabin to complete another 1/2 side of the siding before siding season officially ends for the year. Here Bear waits in the car LONG before we were ready to leave. He didn't want to miss a trip anywhere, Me thinks he knows he only goes to the dog park or the cabin when he's left with us. He's thinking the odds are pretty darn good he's not going to end up at the vet but somewhere that will make his little doggy heart go pitter-pat.

Practically before the roosters pee'd Thursday morning, Bob is tearing the side of the cabin apart both inside and out. ONCE AGAIN, my poor cabin living room has been shredded!

Bear loved the fresh-air view he got from the bedroom window. 3D, HD, and Smell-o-Vision all wrapped up in one. It doesn't get much better than that for a dog. He was right, it was a very good trip.

We left the door open and Bear wandered in and out and around the cabin all day while we worked. When I called him to check on him, Bear the Wonder Dog tries to come to me through the living room window!

 

Bear helped Bob work all day. NOTHING was moved, measured, or nailed without Bear "helping" (a.k.a. getting in the way). It was almost like having Carissa around again.

This is the back of the cabin when we left last time before Bear and Bob spent the day putting the new siding on it.

And this is how it looked after those two had worked their magic on the cabin. It doesn't even look like the same place.

Although Bear and Bob labored over the cabin, the weather was absolutely GORGEOUS so we took lots of breaks to the beach. If Bob or I messed up and said "beach" we had to take him there. He knows that word and once you pull the trigger on the beast, you must follow through with a trip. We made several visits to the beach, walked downtown, and even made a trip to the pet store (bone store) a couple of blocks from the cabin for a new bone. The owner thought he was so beautiful she gave him several large "deli" bones from the display. He loved them.

Bear really had no interest in chasing flying objects on this trip. For him, it was all about DIGGING! We would just sit and watch him dig, Dig, DIG,  DIG. I was afraid little Chinese dogs were going to come up through his holes they were so deep!

On the way to the BEACH! I introduced Bear to the local advertisement pony, Buddy, that stays out by the road. Bear doesn't mind horses, but cannot figure out why one was the same size he is.

Bear watching Bob work in the front yard from the newly installed window we put in last time. This window used to be a door and Bob removed it when we remodeled the front of the cabin. Bear loves that at Grama and Grampa's he is allowed on the beds. Since that's an absolute NO NO at his house, he loves to use his privileges.

The cabin will remain 2 1/2 walls sided until opening day of next year's siding season. That means that the interior remodeling season is open and I have no idea what Bob will be up to this year. Stay tuned for reports.
