Chapter 66: Happy Birthday, America!

Ok, so very little of this has to do with America, but it was a good excuse to get together with good friends and have a fun extended weekend at the cabin!

Immediately upon arrival, Bob had to start working on the closet in our bedroom. He hated to leave it unfinished last time we were there. Here's the progression of our closet.

After (almost, you have to imagine the paint for yourself). It's hard to believe it's the same space with the curtains and drawers gone.

Of course, being Bob, this was not enough to keep him busy all weekend. So off he goes to the Model T barn and he ripped all the siding off and powerwashed the old siding.

Here is the old siding underneath. It looks much better although it is nasty green. The eventual plan is to paint it and the cabin light gray with white trim. We are hoping for a tidy, beachy look.

Thankfully I was saved from a weekend of remodeling when our friends, Erik and Darla arrived. Walks on the beach and town, and fun times followed.

We went to Astoria to the Sunday Market and a quick tour of Astoria. Astoria Market is really big and lots of things to see.

Being Old Farts we don't have much of a life. We all found tons of entertainment in my granddog, Bear. He kept us all entertained with his antics both at the beach and the cabin.

We started with Bear on the Boardwalk,

Apparently ours was not the only "Bear" on the beach. Erik found someone had already written on the beach.

We kept making trips to the beach to watch all the people and the creative campsites they built on the beach. Look at all the people camping on the beach. Total chaos.

Yet the other direction on the beach is pretty empty. You can just see the Northhead Lighthouse on the point.
