Chapter 159: Christmas is WHEN???

Editor's note: Due to some sort of woo-woo Google thing, real or imagined, I was unable to publish by my Sunday night deadline.

Although the rest of the world appears to be in fast forward, I have remained slow to get up to holiday speed. We haven't even brought our Christmas stuff down from the attic or written our Christmas letter yet.

Bob did haul the Christmas out of the window seat and set up yesterday. That's a step in the right direction. A small step, but a step none the less.  Since the tree has perma-lights and don't require the chaotic untangling of classic style lights the tree is lit as well but so far, remains undecorated. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next week. Maybe I'll leave it as it is and call it "primitive" style decorating.

Once the tree was up, Nitro took up his position under it daydreaming of being a grand wildcat in the woods. Yea, that will only last until he gets hungry then it's off to his sure-fire food source of freshly killed Costco wildlife kibble.

Speaking of wildlife, we used to feed local squirrels in the tree out front a free buffet of sunflower seeds and peanuts. This was done mainly to the current cat in the household. Since we have been on a tight budget since Nitro has arrived, the squirrels were left to fend for themselves and their seed budget went the way of other unnecessary expenses that were jettisoned a few years ago.

Now that Bob's working full-time again, I filled the squirrel feeder (actually a rabbit cage feeder) with sunflower seeds so Nitro could happily spend the afternoon watching the squirrels run across the lawn and up the tree to the feeder. Now he can watch winter hummingbirds from his catio in back and squirrels in the front yard.

 

This afternoon Bob and I ran out to get a couple of items at Costco and then to Walmart across the street. When I went to the restroom, I found this odd addition to the toilet in the handicapped stall.

You might be in Walmart...if you see that the toilet in the women's handicapped stall has been reinforced to support the extra load of the average Walmart shopper.

 

And on that note...something even worse...
