So. I hear that while we were at the beach, the rest of you have been having a fine summer here at home. I darn near froze to death at the beach. It really wasn't that cold, but the wind and marine layer made the 70 degree days feel pretty cool.
When we walked on the beach, the tide was going out and must be stirring up food because there were birds everywhere...lots of pelicans flying low over the waves too.
As usual, we try to get some projects done on the cabin each time we visit. Mowing the knee-high grass was monumental, for starters. Bob worked on the molding in the bedroom and we painted the porch with Deck Restore which was supposed to give a nice non-slip surface to the deck. It was like painting on thin tile grout and it reminded me of the old way of putting sand in the paint to make wall texture.
Next project was to take this old fishing rope we've dragged home from the beach, unknot it, and make a nautical-themed railing for our newly painted deck.
We've found some of the big floats on the beach but we had to buy the small floats we put on the railing ropes. NOW our cabin is complete with the cheezy beach look.
Bob has been working and working on the Jaguar that my parents gave us. He's got it really shined up and impressive looking now. Even if you can't tell it is a V12, it looks fast just sitting in the yard waiting for me to finish up so we can take a drive to nowhere in particular.
