Chapter 58: Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day weekend started out great!

Kyanne called and invited me to go to the GRCC trails to walk Harry and Logo.  As we roll onto campus, each granddog had a head sticking out a window, ears, tongues, and flabbajabbas flapping. This was my view:

After our outing, we hopped in the car and headed for Carissa's in preparation for Mother's Day brunch on Sunday.

Saturday night we went to Mike's Four Star BBQ. This is who catered Chris and Roo's wedding. It is sooo good. I was glad to get a Mike's fix. This is Mikes HUGE platter for four. Yum!

After dinner, Bob had a very special treat for Chris. A propane weed torch! They burned up everything in the driveway that was combustible and some that wasn't. This is the proper way to use a weed-burning torch:

But this is what Chris does with a weed burning torch. Chris loved the sheer power of the torch and the jet engine-esque sound that had all their neighbors poking their heads out their doors to see what was going on.

Sunday morning the family all piled in to Chris 'n Roo's to overeat on the great stuff Carissa and Chris had planned for brunch. Since Bear had never seen a human puppy before, he just had to check Payton out. He was not the least bit aggressive, just curious what was going on. He could interpret Payton's stress when she cried and tried to get though the crush of grandparents to get to her to see what was wrong. He was a very good dawgie. Jenna was a very brave Mommy to allow something that wears a spiked collar and plays with balls bigger than Payton's head so close to her baby!

Finally everyone was just sitting around relaxing after brunch and a walk. Notice Bob and Gatsby have the same looks on their faces???

Thanks to everyone for creating yet another wonderful family memory. Especially Jenna and Kyle for coming up from their homestead to share Payton with us all.
