HAPPY ECLIPSE WATCHING TO ALL!
This week I went over to my friend, Mary Lou's, to see the new additions to her sewing family. She bought a cool new machine that scans a design, turns it into an embroidery design, then sews it. If you want to see how far sewing machines have come since my first Singer Featherweight when was a kid, check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_GQ5ZnB934.
Mary Lou has the crafters dream for a playroom. This is only about a quarter of it. The bonus of all this is that it is so well organized SHE CAN FIND THINGS, something most crafters can't claim to do, and if they do they are lying. Her new machine (#1) almost cost as much as I paid for my Subaru...I told her she could come live with us if her husband threw her out after she told him what she'd done. Look how big the screen on that sewing machine is!

Mary Lou also has this eclipse-looking flower in her yard:
My yard yielded the first tomato of the season,
with many more to follow. Please come visit and come take some home with you.
We went to Kyanne's house for her birthday get-together. They are fostering a greyhound for the night and he's awesome. His name is Rick_ _ _ , he's huge and loves to give hugs, something greyhounds new to domestic life aren't real good at. He was certainly getting the hang of not living in a cage at the racetrack very quickly. (Yes, I have shorts under my "skort").
Since I don't remember his entire (kennel) name, I'll just say that "Rick" was doing a good job of keeping the preschooler pressure off of Sally.
Kyanne has a great garden as well. Reagan wanted a purple carrot so Auntie Kyanne was checking each and every carrot at ground level looking for one.
Reagan munched her current carrot while Auntie Kyanne looked at all the personal parts of carrots
while Bob is "rested" with a blue-footed booby on his lap.
For most of you, the photo below is no big deal, but anyone that sews, or those that live with someone who sews, will understand the life or death photo of what you are looking at. In this case Bob has my permission to use my sewing scissors under close supervision to cut something (appropriate). Once again, anyone need any squash???
Those of us in range of the eclipse have bought/borrowed/stolen our eclipse glasses. My watching weapon of choice is the welding mask, complete with two darkening filters totaling more than the required shade number required for safe eclipse watching.
Reagan looks a lot cuter that I do practicing for her eclipse watching.
During our last, most likely partial, eclipse Carissa was tricked out in a welding mask as well for appropriately safe solar spotting. I don't know what year this was. Carissa is almost as cute as her daughter is with her eclipse attire.

Bob's boss from work (not home) wanted some rocks for their yard and I volunteered ours. It's pretty cool, Bob watches them work while our rocks are systematically disappear preparing the yard for the next remodel.
Our yard is looking better already!
Our next major project around here is paint. Our poor old house needs to be painted...again. I think this will be paint job #4, or maybe #5, in the last 40 years.
We are taking votes for what the colors should be. Stage One is power washing to remove dust, dirt, spiders, and bats. Yes, I did say "bats". Poor little guy needs to find a new home now that we've messed with his "cave" in the siding. This may be a big spider but at least it was on the house where it was supposed to be
not riding into the house on the bill of a cap like this spider did on Carissa's cap while we were in Bend.
Reagan loves her Mozzy and he's the world's best cat for her. He is, however, a high-energy handful for Chris and Carissa.
Reagan is making muffins for the neighbor. I hope she likes "handmade" muffins.
Reagan and her purple dinosaur watch the muffins bake in the oven.
Finally, the taste test before the neighbor gets her baker's dozen minus two thank you muffins.
Reagan is mistress of the Poulsbo Waterfront boardwalk.
And from last week, Reagan wearing her helmet in anticipation of her pony ride.
Reagan being the cool equestrian she is.
The three cousins doing what cousins do.
Have a great week and a great eclipse everyone!

To be honest Bob looks like he's had one too many or he needs one of those PT bands that holds him in his chair!
ReplyDeleteThose are some impressive veggies, wish we lived close enough to take some off your hands!
